Our Vision

Our mission is to:

Proclaim and demonstrate the reality of God’s Kingdom.
Make disciples and lead them to become wholehearted servants of Jesus Christ.

All we do is rooted in four foundational values.

We seek to nurture Kingdom values and develop a Christ-centred life-style. As these values are embedded into our lives so they become the touch-stone for the things that really matter.

1   Value the Kingdom
Prioritise Jesus’ priority

Do what Jesus said to do
“Seek first the Kingdom of God” Matthew 6:33

2   Value prayer
A culture of prayer first

Pray at all times.  “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests let your requests to God”
Philippians 4:6

3   Value the God’s resources
Live in the Holy Spirit’s enabling / empowering

God-centred living
“Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always” Psalm 105:4

4   Value people
People matter to God

Investing in people for the Kingdom
“… to love your neighbour as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices” Mark 12:3

The expression of God’s Kingdom is validated as we live lives that are Christ-centred and God dependent.

These four values reflect core essentials of Kingdom living and have an immediate impact on our life and ministry.  As they are embedded in the very culture and life-style of the church, they  help us to be intentional in our discipleship and lead to an expression of God’s Kingdom that is validated by what we say and do.

Four essential aspects of intentional discipleship define what we do:

1  Invest in relationship – through CONNECT Ministiries

As we connect with people through different aspects of service, there is an open door to invest in relationships 1/1. There are many ‘connect ministries’ at St John’s through which engage with and serve the wider community.

2  Invite to community – through BRIDGE Ministies

Easily accessible, bridge-building events are a good way for many people to take a step closer to God.  There are all manner of ways by which we  invite to community – embracing others as an open community among whom the presence and fragrance of Jesus is experienced.

3  Inspire to enquire – through TELL Ministires

Investing in intentional relationship leads people to inspire to enquire; this may involve anything from sharing life stories and testimony to giving an invitation to our enquirer’s course – ‘The Big Ask’.

4  Involve in discipleship – through EQUIP Ministries

We seek to involve in discipleship all those whom we lead to faith in Jesus. This means establishing firm foundations in new disciples and helping every member to grow to maturity and become involved in our shared mission.

We seek to live this out in three dimensions:

Drawing close to God in worship and prayer; being dependent on God’s grace and the empowering of His Holy Spirit. This is expressed in a commitment to worship and corporate prayer.

A community of God’s people who seek to share, celebrate and enjoy the fullness of life together; a community where each can find friendship & fellowship, pastoral care & support, nurture & discipling and opportunities to serve. Midweek Small Groups are the place where we seek to facilitate this.

Seeking to share the good news of God’s love in our everyday lives and in serving the local community. This is enabled both in programmed outreach and through midweek Small Groups.
